How we handle your data

This portal gives named people access to material SYOS Aerospace has shared with them. To do that, and to know whether what we sent was read, we record a small amount of information about your visit.

What we record

  • Your email address, and your organisation where we hold it.
  • Which material you opened, and when.
  • Which pages or slides you viewed and roughly how long you spent on them.
  • The country your connection came from, and your IP address.
  • A short description of your browser and device.

What we do not do

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers or fingerprinting on this portal, and we do not follow you to other websites. The only cookie set is the one that keeps you signed in.

Why we are allowed to

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: when a business sends material to a prospective customer or partner, knowing whether it was received and read is a normal and expected part of that exchange. We have weighed that against your interests and kept the collection to what we actually use. If you would rather we did not, contact us and we will send the material another way.

How long we keep it

IP addresses are erased after 30 days. The remaining record of who opened what, and when, is deleted after 12 months. Your account is removed when the last of your access ends.

Where it is held

The portal and its database run on infrastructure controlled by SYOS. The records are not sold, and are not shared with anyone outside SYOS other than the providers that deliver our email.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to this use of it. Under UK GDPR you may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office; in Australia, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner; in New Zealand, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
